Toyota models equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™ C can use this function to help avoid collisions. A camera and laser sensor work together to determine obstacles ahead, prompting an auditory and visual alert if an accident is imminent. The vehicle can even provide additional brake force thanks to Brake Assist. In some cases, properly equipped Toyota vehicles can automatically apply the brakes, reducing speed to help make the road a safer place for everyone.
If you're driving a car equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™ P, then you can enjoy the added benefit of pedestrian detection. If a pedestrian is detected in the path of your vehicle, you will be alerted with visual and auditory cues to take evasive action. When it comes to preventing potential head-on collisions, this is your second line of defense (the first being your own attentiveness and intuition).
Driving for long hours can create fatigue, making it difficult to stay within your designated lane on the highway. Thanks to Lane Departure Alert, your Toyota is able to recognize when you're unintentionally drifting out of your lane. You'll be alerted to adjust your course and remain within your lane. In some vehicles equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P), you'll also benefit from an available Steering Assist function. This system can autonomously direct you back onto the right path, keeping you and your loved ones safe on long journeys.
In addition to the alert functions of LDA, TSS-P equipped vehicles with Electronic Power Steering (EPS) will also feature a Steering Assist function (LDA w/SA). When equipped and enabled, if the system determines that the vehicle is on a path to unintentionally depart from its lane, the system may provide small corrective steering inputs to the steering wheel for a short period of time to help keep the vehicle in its lane.
AHB is designed to function at speeds of approximately 25 mph or higher. Minimum speed may vary by vehicle.
