Toyota Safety Connect Explained

For years, Toyota has led the charge of making vehicles that provide shoppers with a user-friendly and tech-forward driving experience. Nearly all 2026 models at our dealership in Goleta, CA now come with the Toyota Connected Services compatibility, including Safety Connect, which enhances on-road safety when the unexpected occurs.

So, what exactly is Toyota Safety Connect, and what other features does the Toyota Connected Services suite offer? In this quick guide, we’ll explain it all so you can make the most out of your ride and drive with supreme peace of mind.

Toyota Connected Services Explained

The Toyota Connected Services package is a range of subscription-based services that link with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system and the Toyota App on your personal smartphone or tablet. Each one does something a little different, but all work to improve function, expand convenience, and help you personalize the way you drive. The full list of available features includes:

  • • Safety Connect
  • • Service Connect
  • • Drive Connect
  • • Remote Connect
  • • Wi-Fi Connect

Each service can be subscribed to as a bundle or a la carte, allowing drivers to take advantage of the features they want without having to spend money on the ones they don’t. New models may also come with a free trial period, so you can test every feature out and get the full experience before you decide which ones to pay for.

Toyota Safety Connect at a Glance

As the name suggests, the Safety Connect suite of features is used to complement safety in the event of a collision, as well as improve vehicle security. Luckily, most 2026 Toyota models come with a 5-year free trial of Safety Connect when you purchase them new from your local Toyota dealership.

Here’s a breakdown of its features:

  • Emergency Assistance Button: Provides a quick and easy way to notify emergency services and speak with dispatch after a wreck.
  • Automatic Collision Notification: In the event of airbag deployment or a serious collision, a 24/7 response center agent will attempt to contact the driver and notify emergency personnel.
  • Enhanced Roadside Assistance: Contact 24/7 roadside assistance at the press of a button in case of an empty fuel tank, flat tire, or more serious problem.
  • Stolen Vehicle Locator: If you suspect your car has been stolen, you can immediately file a police report and ask for assistance in finding the vehicle with GPS.

How is Toyota Safety Connect Different from Safety Sense?

If you’ve been shopping for a new Toyota, you’ve likely heard of Toyota Safety Sense™. Even though they have similar names, Safety Sense and Safety Connect are very different in what they actually do.

While Safety Connect is generally intended to help drivers in the event of a collision, Toyota Safety Sense™ is a collection of driver assistance systems intended to ensure that a wreck never happens in the first place. The current iteration, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, is standard on nearly all new models, and comes with the following features:

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC): Adaptive cruise control that uses external sensors in the front of the vehicle to detect the preceding car, automatically adjusting speed to maintain a safe distance.
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS): Detects vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians in front of the vehicle and applies a warning and automatic braking if a collision is imminent.
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA): At speeds above 30 MPH, this feature uses side sensors to detect if the vehicle is drifting off course, providing a warning and corrective steering if necessary.
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA): Helps the driver keep the vehicle in the lanes when DRCC is activated.
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA): Displays upcoming road signs on the Multi-Information Display for easier viewing.
  • Automatic High Beams (AHB): Adjusts headlight brightness automatically to ensure optimal brightness on dark roads and avoid blinding oncoming traffic.
  • Proactive Driving Assist (PDA): Provides braking and steering support in certain conditions like curves.

With both Safety Connect and Safety Sense equipped, your new Toyota provides one of the safest driving experiences for drivers of all ages and skill levels.
